Kimberly May, Ed.S - CEO/President/Founder
Kimberly is the founder of The Loving Closet and has been transforming educational outcomes for over 25 years. Kimberly is a distinguished educational leader whose career spans classroom teaching, school administration, and district-level leadership. Her commitment to educational equity has been the driving force behind countless initiatives that have expanded opportunities for underserved youth. Kimberly's work is purpose driven. As a current school board member, she remains actively engaged in organizations that enhance her expertise in advocacy, instructional pedagogy, grant management, and educational leadership. Kimberly holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist degree from Wayne State University.
Hal Heard III - Vice President
Hal, an educator for nearly 30 years, currently serves as a central office administrator. Holding both a Bachelor's and Master's degree, Hal is also pursuing a doctoral degree. With expertise in promoting student agency, educational leadership, and fostering cultures of innovation, Hal remains a dedicated advocate for advancing opportunities for young people over the course of his career.
Hawanya Urquhart - Secretary
Hawanya is an educator that has been teaching for 25 years. As an educator, Hawanya is very passionate about promoting literacy and uplifting the voices of young people. She has done this through book tastings, literacy nights, and African-American Read-Ins.
Hawaya’s interest in reading has led her to facilitate a community book club in her local neighborhood.
Angel Lett- Green - Treasurer
Angel Lett - Green, a Cleveland native and St. Joseph Academy alumna, discovered her passion for nonprofit service while studying Secondary Education at Bowling Green State University. After graduating, she began her career as an educator in Cleveland and later earned a Master’s in School Counseling from Cleveland State University in 2009. That same year, she relocated to Michigan to serve as a Professional School Counselor in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. In 2016, Angel earned an Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership from Oakland University and became a High School Assistant Principal. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Oakland University, Angel is dedicated to service, education, leadership, and mentorship. She enjoys traveling, book club, and spending quality time with her children.
Christine Brooks - Trustee
In addition to her professional career of over 30 years in Operations and Project Management, Christine has been instrumental in building and managing a youth sports team and as chairperson/events coordinator for the school PTO.
Being able to be a small part of helping young kids build confidence through sportsmanship and community has always been important and will carry over into helping young women build confidence through her efforts at The Loving Closet.
